Single use plastic makes up 30% of waste created by hospitals. This can be less!

Less (plastic) waste in healthcare

Less waterusage

Less emission output

Less waste disposal costs

Green healthcare is a project that stands for a smaller environmental footprint from the healthcare sector. We hope to achieve this by helping hospitals to use less (plastic) single-use items. Naturally, we also support other methods to reduce carbon footprints, like changing the food served to patients.

At least 30% of the waste produced by Dutch hospitals exists of single-use, disposable products. Research shows that it is safe to replace many of these items with reusable versions. This way, it is possible to reduce the amount of waste, and with that the amount of pollution, caused by the healthcare sector.

The list of single-use products is a long one. A few examples:

  • Isolation gowns

  • Surgical drapes

  • Gloves and facemasks

  • Infusion bags

  • Covers for lamps, tubes and cables

  • Syringes

  • Cellulose absorbing pads

  • Packaging materials

  • Cups

For many of there products, there is a safe and more sustainable reusable alternative.
